INTERCEPTOR REHAB LAS VEGAS STYLE - A FAST TRACK APPROACH FOR THE DOWNTOWN INTERCEPTOR

The City of Las Vegas Downtown Interceptor Sewer was constructed in the early 1980’s andrnconsists of approximately 23,000 linear feet of 42- to 54-inch unlined reinforced concrete pipern(RCP). The Interceptor is a critical asset for the City of Las Vegas. The City initiated a contractrnfor a fast-track condition assessment and rehabilitation design in one-half the normal design timernto reduce the risk of a sewer collapse.rnBased on risk, a rehabilitation strategy was developed for the final design that included, not onlyrnthe Grade 4 and 5 areas, but adjacent areas that would be difficult to rehabilitate in the future duernto large traffic volumes and/or business disruption.rnThis paper presents the project steps to complete the condition assessment and design on anrnaccelerated schedule, while ensuring that limited City construction funds were only spent forrnrehabilitation in high-risk areas.
