Application of industrial maintenance methods to the Analysis and Design of Computers Networks

In this paper we propose to apply techniques of maintenance of industrial systems as RCM (Reliability Centred Maintenance) in order to increase the life cycle of a network and its reliability. Based on the requirements for installing computing networks, all the components that comprise these networks are studied and the reliability of these components are evaluated (using different tools of Simulation and Monitoring). Also the critical points that exist in a network shall be studied so that it can be decided whether the design made is correct, and to provide certain guidelines of maintenance on that network in order to: first, get at least four nines (99,99%) for a high level of reliability and quality, second reduce maintenance cost of the network and finally minimize the risk of losses (e. g. productivity, safety, quality...).
