Robust Framework to Topological Operators in Geographic Information Systems

Topological operators are an important class of GIS spatial operators. They constitute the basis for defining some constructions in a spatial query language, such as region inclusion based queries. The most of these operators may be implemented using the Point Containment Paradigm, which specifies if a point is part of a mathematically defined shape. This paper presents a new geometric framework based on the Point Containment Paradigm to compute some GIS topological operators using only integer arithmetic.
