摘要

factors for both a reduced treatment effect and unexpected fatal side-effects. In this study, over an 18-month period, we performed a retrospective observational study of the incidence of contraindicated co-prescription and the associated risk factors at a tertiary teaching hospital in Korea. Basic characteristics and clinical information of the patients were collected from their electronic health records. In total, 19,051 patients were enrolled during the study period and 4.4% (842/19,051) generated alerts due to contraindicated co-prescriptions. Using multivariate analysis, the risk factors for inpatients associated with contraindicated co-prescription included being aged under 65 years old, female gender, the number of drugs, whether the patient had undergone a surgical procedure and whether the patient was undergoing chemotherapy. Patients with these risk factors should be closely monitored to prevent possible adverse drug events.
