Characterization of Album Page Pressure Sensitive Adhesives Using Thermal Analysis

The scrapbooking industry uses pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) materials to mount photographs, memorabilia and colored paper to album pages. These adhesives include both supported materials (tapes) and unsupported materials (films). In order to understand the performance of these PSA materials, analyses were performed on new and aged samples using thermal and rheological techniques. The results were then combined with adhesion strength tests for new and aged samples to characterize advantages and disadvantages of each type of PSA material.
