Entropic modeling has been developed based on mass, energy and entropy balances andrnthermodynamic relations, resulting in a model for the entropy production rate. Byrnmeans of a conventional technique, a minimum for the entropy production rate has beenrnfound when a given relationship between the temperatures of the inlet stream and of thernreaction is satisfied for a particular residence time in the reactor. A new class ofrnnonlinear controller has been proposed by means of the introducing of entropic modelsrninto the classical algorithms designed from reference system synthesis. The resultsrnindicate that such a controller yields a superior performance when compared to thernclassical feedback control strategies.
