VARIANCE IN INTERPRETING RESULTS OF MEASUREMENT MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF RIDGE KEEL IN MODEL TESTS

Model tests in the Ice Tank at KSRI were aimed at the investigation of mechanical properties of the model ridges. During those experiments two series of model ridges were constructed. The measured values with shear- and punch-tests were processed by applying soil mechanics tool. The paper describes various approaches for interpreting the measurement results: separate processing of the experimental data related (1) to the direct shear-test and (2) to the punch-test, as well as (3) the common processing of full experimental data obtained from the both tests. It is shown that the common processing of the tests results is preferable.
