Contact element (7) for attachment to a measurement device (1) for measurement of at least one physical characteristic of biological tissue (2), especially a mechanical property of the skin. The contact element has a contact surface (8) that is pressed against the skin surface and has micro-ridges and grooves distributed on its surface in a regular pattern. The invention also relates to a corresponding measurement device for evaluation of the physical properties of biological tissue.
