Design Personal Protective Equipment for productivity, comfort and fit: Challenges and Opportunities

摘要

The growing demand for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in China brings a lot of business opportunities for the PPE providers. In this paper, aimed at designing comfortable PPE for Chinese population, the trend of the occupational safety and health in China is reviewed. Then, the major challenges faced by PPE designers and manufacturers are discussed. Specifically, we focus on, anthropometric factors, environmental factors, cultural factors and design aspects. These challenges create corresponding opportunities for both industry and academic research for improving the protection, productivity and comfort offered by PPE.
