The implementation of TabletPC technology into undergraduate structured systems analysis and design courses changes the way in which the course operates during class meetings, as well as the student productivity outside of the classroom. There are several aspects of this implementation that drastically change the nature of the in-class and out-of-class experiences that the students and instructor take part in. No longer are white boards needed; these are now replaced with digital ink files that can be saved and archived for future reference as opposed to loosing all of that information at the end of the class period. Students take notes on prearranged "skeletons" provided by the instructor in digital form. This allows students to concentrate on the course content and not on the overhead of organizing notes, and trying to decipher what is important to the day's lesson. All assignments are done electronically via a course management system (CMS) and digital inking provided by the inherent technologies of the TabletPC. These assignments are then submitted, graded, and returned to the student electronically with embedded ink annotations. TabletPC adoption has significantly changed the mechanisms in which the course is delivered, changed the methods in which students are engaged during class meetings, and changed the process in which assignments are assigned, completed, assessed, and retuned.
