A control system that reduces power consumption, size and weight while outputting the maximum force vector with available power. A bidirectional thrust assembly includes a motor, a selective power transmission, and a plurality of fans. Changing the direction of rotation of the motor causes the selective power transmission to change torque transmission between the fans. Here, the fans may face each other, or the fans may be unidirectional. Bi-directional thrust assemblies may be used with multiple airframes or other objects that need to be maneuvered, including hoisted load control systems, vertical take-off and landing aircraft, and watercraft.
