An antenna array containing a layered structure, wherein the layered structure is a base layer having a metamaterial structure, a printed circuit board (PCB) layer, and a surface of the PCB opposite to one or more RF ICs. The metamaterial structure comprises a feed layer arranged on top of the feed layer and a radiation layer arranged on the feed layer and containing a plurality of radiation elements, and the metamaterial structure is between at least two adjacent waveguides. It is configured to attenuate electromagnetic radiation within the propagating frequency band.
