The present invention relates to a novel Lactobacillus plantarum strain and a bioconversion method of paoniflorin using the same, and more particularly, it shows bioconversion ability to convert paeoniflorin into benzoic acid. Lactobacillus plantarum LN180054 strain and relates to a bioconversion method of paoniflorin using the same. Since the Lactobacillus plantarum LN180054 strain provided by the present invention has very excellent bioconversion ability to convert paoniflorin into benzoic acid, it can be very usefully utilized for the prevention or development of therapeutic agents for various mental disorders.
