The frequency selective surface (FSS) filter design method according to the present embodiment directly finds the shape of a frequency selective surface filter that gives a frequency response characteristic very close to a target frequency response characteristic. The shape of the filter is determined by the overall shape of the unit cells. That is, the unit cells are expressed as a combination of states in which the metal is filled or emptied. It is obtained by solving the combinatorial optimization problem with a global optimization method. This embodiment is a design method based on a wide-area optimization of a frequency selective surface filter that secures diversity of candidate solutions by mobilizing a genetic algorithm, local optimization, and simulated annealing methods.
