Techniques for providing network slice-based security in mobile networks (eg, service provider networks for mobile subscribers) are disclosed. In some embodiments, a system / process / computer program product for network slice-based security in a mobile network according to an embodiment is used in a service provider network in a security platform to identify a new session. Includes monitoring network traffic, service provider networks include 5G networks or converged 5G networks. It involves extracting network slice information for user traffic associated with a new session on the security platform and, based on the network slice information, determining the security policy to apply to the new session on the security platform.
