An accommodating intraocular lens assembly for placement within a lens capsule of a subject, comprising:;an accommodating lens unit having a first optical component and a second;optical component posterior with respect to the first optical component, wherein the first optical component and/or the second optical component is flexible such that flexion of the first optical component and/or the second optical component changes optical power of the accommodating lens unit; and;a corrective lens having a constant optical power, the corrective lens being configured to be removably coupled to the accommodating lens unit such that the corrective lens is anterior of and spaced apart from the first optical component of the accommodating lens unit.
