The present invention relates to a lipopolysaccharide (LPS) O of Klebsiella pneumoniae in which the epitope is encapsulated in a galactan-III repeat unit, the galactan-III repeat unit being a branched galactose homopolymer of formula (I). An isolated antibody that specifically recognizes a galactan-III epitope of an antigen construct is provided.
