A method for changing a reference power of a generating plant (30, 40) in an electrical island network (10) is described, which includes the steps, if a frequency in the network (10) is longer than a first time interval below a first frequency value, increasing the reference power and if the frequency in the network (10) is above a second frequency value for longer than a second time interval, reducing the reference power. The generating plant (30, 40) comprises a frequency detection device which is set up to detect a frequency of the electrical island network (10) and a controller which is set up to change the reference power of the generating plant (30, 40). In the electrical island network (10) there is also a frequency-generating system (20).
