The present invention relates to a ferrocene-based compound showing high selectivity towards sulfide ions, wherein the ferrocene-based compound is obtained by reacting a ferrocene starting material with one or more organic compounds selected from among a nitrile, a methyl ester, and an ethyl ester, and the compound is mixed with an organic solvent to manufacture a chemical sensor in a solution state. According to the present invention, the chemical sensor shows high selectivity towards sulfide ions and sensitivity at a low concentration, and enables visual confirmation of sulfide ions, and thus may be utilized as a solution-state chemical sensor for hydrogen sulfide detection. Furthermore, the present invention provides a hydrogen sulfide detection kit comprising: a sealed container including an opening/closing door or an opening for a detection target material; a detection part placed inside the sealed container and composed of paper or fabric having a ferrocene compound absorbed therein; and an alkaline reagent stored inside or outside the sealed container to generate sulfide ions from hydrogen sulfide. According to the present invention, hydrogen sulfide can be detected in real time by generating sulfide ions from gaseous or liquid hydrogen sulfide and then identifying a color change of the ferrocene compound in the detection kit with the naked eye.
