In order to present the boarding position in the transportation service, the server device receives a request for the ride sharing service from the rider's current position to the disembarking position. The server device broadcasts the request to the driver and receives instructions from one of the drivers to accept the request. The server device then provides the rider and driver with the boarding position presented on the map display of the rider and driver client device. When the rider's or driver's current position is within a threshold distance from the boarding position, the corresponding client device switches to augmented reality mode and presents a camera view from the client device's camera representing a real-world image. The server device provides the corresponding client device with information presented in augmented reality mode that overlays the real-world image to help the rider or driver find the boarding position.
