Disclosed are a method and apparatus for obtaining a three-dimensional object using an artificial light photograph. A method of obtaining a 3D object according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: receiving a plurality of images of a 3D object photographed by a camera; reconstructing spatially changing surface reflectometer information for the three-dimensional object based on the received plurality of images; estimating a shadow normal for the 3D object based on the reconstructed spatially changing surface reflectometer information; and obtaining a three-dimensional geometry of the three-dimensional object based on the estimated shadow normal.
