A device (1) for protecting an object in the outdoor area with a shell comprising at least two transparent or translucent plates (11 to 16) which surround the object at least from the side and which extends continuously from a bottom area of the object to an upper edge of the device (1) extending upwards, in particular to above the height of the object, is characterized in that the at least two panels (11 to 16) are each supported by two main girders (3 to 6) on their side edges on the first side edges of the respective main girders (3 to 6), which face the plates (11 to 16), and that the main girders (3 to 6) have second side edges facing away from the plates (11 to 16), on each of which two main girders (3 to 6 ) are connected to each other.
