Smoke gas engine, withAt least one cylinder (3) having:a closed and an open end,a piston, which can be moved in the cylinder (3), connected to a crankshaft by means of a pleural rod,a heat storage device located at the closed end of the cylinder (3), anda gas inlet and a gas outlet which flow into the cylinder (3),and a hot gas treatment plant having:a gas mixing tank (6),a flue gas pipeline to the gas mixer (6),an air duct into the gas mixing tanks,a water atomizer (15) to inject finely atomised water into the gas mixing tanks (6); anda mixture gas outlet connected to the gas inlet into the cylinder (3),where the gas outlet from the cylinder (3) is connected to an outlet (10),marked by it,provision is made for a retro-ignition system comprising:a combustion chamber (5),a flue gas inlet to supply hot flue gas to the afterburner (5),an air inlet for the supply of combustion air to the afterburner compartment (5); anda flue-gas outlet for discharging hot flue-gas from the afterburner (5),that the afterburner (5) is thermally coupled to the heat storage device (4) in which at least one cylinder (3) is connected; andthat the exhaust gas pipeline to the gas mixing tank (6) is connected to the exhaust pipe of the afterburner.
