The invention relates to a method of configuring an active antenna array in which each of said antennas (5.1,…, 5.n) comprises at least one radiating element and an amplifier (4.1,…, 4.n) suitable for exciting said radiating element. The configuration method comprises a step of determining (E3) off and non-off antennas exploiting power consumption characteristics of the amplifiers so that for the non-off antennas, each of the amplifiers operates in a linear regime. A set of complex excitations is calculated by applying a set of conditions including a power condition relating to the output power of each amplification corresponding to an antenna that is not turned off. Dynamically selecting an optimum bias voltage allows each amplifier to operate at optimum energy efficiency. The invention also relates to a network of active antennas configured by this configuration method as well as any radiofrequency communication device comprising such a network of active antennas.
