SPRAYER WITH ARTICULATED ARM AND SENSOR SYSTEM

A teat sprayer for use in dairy applications is described that uses an articulated arm and system to deliver a spray to a teat and move between multiple dairy animals. In one aspect the teat sprayer comprises an articulated arm conveying a spray nozzle. Articulated arm movement occurs between a retracted position and an extended position in which the articulated arm and spray nozzle are moved so that the spray nozzle lies in a position configured to be about an animal's udder. The teat sprayer may further comprise an animal sensor positioned about an animal bail to sense the presence of an animal in the animal bail; and a controller configured to actuate spraying and/or extension and retraction. The apparatus may act to reduce cost of operation; increase accuracy/efficiency through automation and speed; and address space constraints in dairy platform configurations.
