Potassium titanate powder and its manufacturing method, friction modifier, resin composition, friction material, and friction member

There is provided a potassium titanate powder capable of imparting excellent friction properties when used in a friction material while avoiding safety and hygiene concerns. It is a powder composed of columnar potassium titanate particles having an average long diameter of 30 µm or more, an average short diameter of 10 µm or more, and an average aspect ratio of 1.5 or more, and the columnar potassium titanate particles have a composition formula K ₂ Ti _n O _2n+1 [wherein, n=5.5 to 6.5].
