The present invention relates to a peptide that inhibits the TLR4 signaling pathway, and to a TLR4 antagonist comprising the peptide and a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of autoimmune or inflammatory diseases. The peptide according to the present invention has excellent effects of inhibiting the secretion of inflammatory cytokines by inhibiting the TLR4 signaling pathway and inhibiting the activation of NF-κB and MAPKs. It is useful as a pharmaceutical composition for prophylaxis or treatment.
