When cyclohexanedimethanol (Cyclohexanedimethanol (CHDM)) is produced by hydrogenation of cyclohexanedimethanol (Cyclohexane dicarbonic acid, CHDA) on an aqueous solution of a carbon-coated supported catalyst, the reaction rate and reaction rate are faster than those of conventional catalysts. Provided is a metal-transition metal composite catalyst supported on a carbon-coated silica-alumina carrier capable of obtaining catalyst stability, and a method for producing cyclohexanedimethanol containing the same.
