The invention relates to a current collector (2) for a non-rail-bound, electric traction vehicle (1) for feeding electrical energy from a two-pole overhead line system. The current collector comprises an articulated support linkage (5), which, on the contact wire side, supports rocker assemblies (9) having contact strips (10) and, on the vehicle side, has a base joint (11) for articulation to the traction vehicle (1). Furthermore, the current collector comprises a pneumatic reciprocating drive (17), which is coupled to the support linkage (5) in such a way that the rocker assemblies (9) can be raised from a lower parking position (hP) into an upper contact position (hK) when the reciprocating drive (17) is pressurized and can be lowered into the parking position (hP) under its own weight when depressurization occurs. Because the reciprocating drive (17) can be connected to the environment by means of an exhaust air line (20) in order to lower the rocker assemblies (9), an air accumulator (22) and a throttle valve (23) arranged downstream of the air accumulator being connected between the reciprocating drive (17) and an environment opening (21) of the exhaust air line (20), the rocker assemblies (9) can be quickly lowered and nevertheless brought into the parking position (hP) thereof without damage in order to disengage the current collector (2). The invention further relates to a method for operating a current collector and to a traction vehicle (1) having a current collector (2) of this type.
