PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, a system, an apparatus, and a computer program product for providing an improved, more efficient and more stable system of network-connected computing devices. The present embodiment discloses a device and a system that allows a client device to selectively grant a third party application permission to access a group-based communication object of a group-based communication system. The device and system further allow client devices to selectively grant third-party applications permission to take specific actions on group-based communication objects within the system. To achieve these improvements, the disclosed systems, devices, and computing devices keep a record of permissions granted to third-party applications in a permission table stored in computer storage. The authorization table can be modified to extend the permissions granted to third-party applications without the need for a new authentication process to issue new authentication tokens. In addition, third-party applications are installed within the system at the group level rather than at the user level, which enhances system stability and efficiency. [Selection diagram] Fig. 1
