The present invention relates to a Lagrange multiplier-based optimal load curtailment algorithm and application thereof in power system reliability evaluation. The technical characteristics of the algorithm comprise: inputting all system states to be subjected to reliability evaluation and creating corresponding optimal load curtailment models; classifying all of the optimal load curtailment models according to the Lagrange multiplier to form a plurality of sets; using the Lagrange multiplier to separately solve the optimal load curtailment models in individual sets to obtain the optimal load curtailment amount of each corresponding system state. The key of the present invention is to use the Lagrange multiplier to establish the functional relationship between the optimal load curtailment amount and the system state, and the transformation of the iterative optimization solution process in the traditional optimal load curtailment algorithm into a simple matrix calculation greatly reduces the computational complexity, thus improving the calculation speed and calculation efficiency for power system reliability evaluation, and achieving excellent compatibility.
