Theatrical appliances; exhibitions, scenic and spectacular.-In order to produce the effect of fire on a stage, strips c of cloth or other material are fastened to bars of a grating b at the top of a funnel or casing a, and are fluttered by air currents produced by a fan d driven by an endless band or otherwise. Coloured lights are thrown on the strips to give the appearance of tongues of flame.
