15,462. Scheuermann, F. W. C. July 30. Surfacing and polishing.- Relates to the leather bands use for covering grinding and polishing discs. Instead of making the band of one strip of leather, it is built up of a number of waste pieces of leather, which may be of the width of the disc as shown at 1, Fig. 6, or may be of less width and arranged to break joint as shown at Fig. 2. The pieces may be held together by wires 3, or by the flanges 7 of flanged side-plates 5. Cement may be used in fixing the pieces to the disc. The acting face of the band may have a variously-shaped profile, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4, so that cycle tubes &c. may be treated.
