Lathes.-The stem m of a hand-rest or the like is secured in the holder c simultaneously with the securing of the holder to the bed a by means of an eccentric bolt l journalled in the holder c and passing through a pin h on the clamping-plate g. The holder has a deep slot d to allow the two parts e, e' frictionally to grip the stem when the bolt is turned by a handle k to draw up the clamping-plate. The invention is stated to avoid objectionable weakening of the bed when fine work is to be produced.
