Improvements relating to Stamping and Embossing Presses.

3197. Hewston, H. S. Feb. 8. Inking-apparatus.-Relates to the inking-apparatus of embossing, stamping, and other printing- presses. The ink fountain or container consists of a removable pan B having flanges by which it is supported on transverse bars of a frame A adapted for fixing on the frame of the embossing &c. press. In the side walls of the frame A is journalled the shaft of a roller driven by gearing from the press. On the side walls are remuvably fixed, by screws e, brackets E having guide slots or recesses for the bearings E of a grinding-roller H bearing against the first roller. The bearings F are adjusted by means of screws e' and springs. The two rollers are geared together to rotate at different surface speeds. Plates attached to the frame bear against the ends of the rollers, and act as scrapers and guards. The ink is transferred from the roller D to the die &c. by suitable means.
