Improvements in Apparatus for Filling Bottles and other Vessels with Liquids and for Stoppering the same

22,934. Fletcher, F. J. Oct. 21. Bottling ; corking. -Relates to bottling - apparatus of the kind described in Specification No. 11,142, A.D. 1902. Means are provided for operating the valves controlling the supply of aerated liquid to the various filling-devices mounted on a disc a. The disc a is carried by a shaft f rotatably mounted in the column g, so that the required filling-device may be brought over the bottle support h. A passage i in the shaft f communicates with an aÙrating-chamber (not shown), and valves j are provided to control the supply of aerated liquid to the filling-devices through channels k. The valve spindles j1 are caused to project through the underside of the disc a, and a rod m is provided which is so arranged that it is in line with one of the valve spindles when the corresponding filling- device is over the bottle support h. The rod m can be raised by a lever n, so that its head m' impinges against the valve spindle j1 and opens the valve. In connection with the filling-device b for bottles to be corked, the corking-plunger l is mounted on a bracket o extending from a spindle p, which moves in a slotted guide q fixed upon the disc a. The plunger is operated by means of a lever r and a rod r1. When not in use, the rod r1 can be disconnected from the spindle p, and the arm o may be raised above the top of the guide q and partially rotated so as to support the plunger l out of the operative position. In connection with the device for filling siphons, a holder s, Fig. 3, is used. The holder is of ordinary construction, but can be detached from the bottle support h when vessels other than siphons are to be filled. The siphon holder is provided with a plate t, in which is a hole t1, through which a bolt is passed to secure it to the support h. The bolt is formed by a screw-threaded shank upon a recessed piece u1 adapted to take the head of the siphon.
