Making knobs.-Spherical knobs or terminal ornaments for bedsteads, fenders, doors, curtain poles, &c. are made from single blanks of sheet metal, by stamping and drawing operations. Figs. 1 to 9 indicate various stages in the manufacture. The thickened edge c2, Fig. 7, is formed by tools a, b, Fig. 15, as described in Specification No. 21,410, A.D 1900, the edge c3 Fig. 6, being curled over and flattened by the tool a. The hole D may be closed by a separate cap, or made so small that it may be soldered.
