Dandy rolls.- Sheets of paper which are intended to be bound into volumes, particularly those for making into account-books known as loose-leaf books, are subjected to pressure along a strip A, parallel to the binding edge, such strip forming a sort of hinge to enable the leaves of the volume or book to lie flat, instead of, taking up a curved form, when the volume is opened. According to the Provisional Specification, strips of metal or other material, with rounded edges, may be attached to, or formed on, the dandy or other rolls to compress the sheets along the lines A.
