Sights and methods of sighting; turrets. - The telescope sight A, Fig.1, is carried on a bar B which is pivoted at C and connected to a segmental frame E carrying a pointer-arm E1. A pointer. arm moving with the gun is pivoted on the same axis C as the pointer-arm E1 moving with the sight, and the gun is at the required elevation when the two pointers coincide, this being indicated by a tell-tale ; or an electric firing-circuit may be completed by the two pointers. The inclination of the sight A with respect to the pointer E1 is adjusted for range by the screw spindle D gearing with a toothed sector B' fast to the sight-bar B. A range - scale, consisting of a graduated band d, Fig. 1a, the readings of which are visible through an aperture in the case D', is actuated by the spindle D. Lateral movement is given to the sight by the hand-wheel H, Fig. 3, which actuates a worm H1 gearing with a wormquadrant H2 keyed to the upper part of the sightbar B. An arrangement for making the range adjustment without moving the sight-bar is shown in Fig. 6. A spindle E6, journalled in a bar E' forming part of the pointer E', carries a pinion engaging with the toothed sector E* fixed to the sight-bar B. The sight-bar and pointer may be moved together by the pinion a* on the spindle a. Fig. 9 is a side elevation showing details. The pointer bar is attached to the flange E'. The quadrant E and sight-bar B are moved together by the hand-wheel Lx mounted on a spindle l carrying a pinion l1 gearing with a toothed arc l2. Deflection is indicated by a pointer N travelling over the scale N1. In the case of single guns, the quadrant may move with the gun and the pointer bars be dispensed with. When the device is applied to two turret guns, the sighting-pointers are carried on an axis connected so as to turn with the axis of the sight-bar.
