Kilns or ovens.-Relates to ovens or kilns, for use in baking pottery, bricks, and other ware, of the type in which a baking-chamber is heated by a series of furnaces disposed around it, and consists in using a forced draught heated by the waste gases from the kilns. When gaseous fuel is employed, the gas supply may be similarly heated. A radial flue E from each furnace, leads to an opening F in the bottom of the chamber A, the waste gases escaping by openings B to a chamber C located in the passage to the chimney. This chamber contains air or gas heating tubes J connecting headers K, L connected to supply fans N and distributing-chambers P. Feed-tubes R connect these chambers with the furnaces D. Some of or all the heating-tubes J may be arranged in a chimney above the chamber A, which may have an opening at the top or flues in its side walls.
