12,270. Hill, J. W. May 29. Coupling-links; shackles.-The link is made in halves A', A', Figs. 3 and 4, which have abutting heads a1, a2, a3, a4. The halves are held together by a box-like part consisting of the halves B1, B2, suitably recessed to fit the heads a', a2, a3, a4 and the reduced sides l of the link halves. The parts B', B2 are secured by the screw D or by a stud rivet or the like. The head d' of the screw fits into the recess n on the part B2. The lead washer o placed on the square part d2 of the screw engages channels p in the sides of the hole f1 in the part B' to lock the screw. The screw may be locked by other means. For small links, the pin q, Fig. 1, is preferably stamped in one piece with the part B2 and is riveted on the outside of the part B1. The parts A1, A2, B', B2 are preferably made as steel stampings.
