18,755. Blender, H. Aug. 31. Indicators or annunciators. - Electric order apparatus is arranged for the ordering of dishes by waiters from the kitchen of a restaurant. A waiter pushes a contact on the switchboard B, Fig. 1, bearing his number, thereby completing a circuit through the bell 6 and the coils of an electromagnet, which move their armature so as to show the corresponding number in the opening 5 of the kitchen panel A. Simultaneously, an armature is thrown over to give the engaged indication " E " on the switchboard. Two other contacts marked " ? " and " O " indicate a request for execution of orders and for use of telephone respectively. There is a contact b2 for each dish, and this is pushed the number of times that the dish is required, that number being displayed by electromagnetic indicators 13 in the kitchen, above each of which is a counting-apparatus 27, 26 for registering the total number of dishes of each variety supplied. The indicators 13 are operated by electromagnets, Fig. 2, and spring-held armature 14, the augle-piece 15 of which presses the pin 16, Fig. 4, and forces the pawl 17 out of gear with the wheel 18, which is then moved forwards one step by the spring 19 and cord passing over the pulley 21, the pawl being immediately returned by the spring 19. The indication of the disc 13 on the spindle of the wheel 18 is thus changed by one unit for each energization of the circuit. The armature 14 actuates, through a pawl 24, numbering-wheels 26, 27 for registering the total number of dishes ordered of each variety. When the bar 11 is pulled out by hand, pegs 32 thereon strike toothed sectors 31 engaging with pinions so as to set indicators 15 to zero. Simultaneously, the indicators 5 are re-set and a contact 12 made which causes an armature to be thrown over and the indication " E " obscured. A spring returns the bar.
