Shutters.-In a clockwork device which can be removably attached, to any camera for the purpose of automatically operating the shutter at a predetermined time, the winding-post 10, Fig. 3, extends oat through the easing A, and carries a pointer 11, Fig. 2. The pointer is turned to point to one of the divisions 13 on the graduated dial 12 according to the time desired to elapse before the shutter is operated, and so winds up the clockwork B to the desired extent. When the pointer arrives at the division marked " snap " the stud 16, Figs. 3 and 4, on the axis of the winding-post 10 engages the foot 22 of the lock lever 17, forcing it against the tension of its spring 20, and carrying the head 18 of the lever out of engagement with the locking-hook section 25 of the pivoted lever arm 24. The latter is urged by the spring 24a to operate the shutter either by moving a lever arm 27 as in Fig. 1, or by depressing a button, or by squeezing a rubber ball against the fixed arm 23, the casing A- being suitably attached according to the mode of operating the shutter. Simultaneously, a pin 26a on the arm 24 actuates a spring hammer to sound a bell or gong, and the clockwork stops when the pointer 11 arrives at the division marked "stop " on the dial.
