11,232. Mellett, L. May 18, A.D. 1903, [date applied for under Patents Act, A.D. 1901]. Spindle apparatus.-In ring and traveller spinning-frames, a steel or iron traveller 111 is mounted on an angular ring k of non-magnetic material, preferably glass, which fits in a groove formed between the two pole-pieces h, i of a magnetic ring-holder g, which may be either a permanent magnet or an electromagnet. As the traveller is moved around the ring, it is kept in a circular path by the attraction of the magnet, which resists the tendency of the yarn to move the traveller laterally into frictional engagement with the ring. The non-magnet ring k may be fitted with a central bead o to hold the traveller from contact with the magnet when at rest.
