The hoop-sticks L, Fig. 2, are secured i n tapered oval sockets A which are made from sheet metal, with binding-ferrules a2 at the top, and bifurcated ends a3, which are pivoted at b1 to the sector plate B. This latter is pivoted to a block C, which is bolted to a countersunk plate mounted in the body framing. The hoop-sticks may be made entirely of metal tubing, or may consist of metal side tubes with a metal or wooden cross-bar, in any of which cases the jaws a3 are formed integrally with them, and the sockets A are not used. The whole hood may be fixed at any required angle by engaging the spring-bolt G, Figs. 9 and 10, with the holes b2 in the sectorplate.
