Lift valves ; cleaning valves.-Stop valves for use on the gas-mains of coke ovens or other gas-producing plant are provided with a cleaning-disk f, operated by a separate screw spindle g and wheel g1, and with means, comprising a siphon pipe m, a valve o, and a cup n; for supplying fluid tar oil, for the purpose of dissolving and removing tarry deposits on and about the valve and valve-seat. The valve spindle b is hollow, and is threaded externally to engage a nut c, fixed in the lower part of the stuffing-box, and internally at its lower end h to engage the screw spindle g of the cleaning-disk f. The clearing of the pipe q, which leads to the oven or furnace, may be effected simultaneously with the closing of the valve, by first screwing down the disk f, and then the valve and disk together by means of the band-wheel b1.
