8732. Gest, G. M. April 25. Conduits; conductors, supports or holders for.- Uncovered electric conductors are carried in conduits on porcelain, glass, &c. supports, which are shaped according to the cross-section of the conduit and are prevented from turning by projections which engage with corresponding depressions in the walls of the conduit. These supports 4, Figs. 1 and 2, are kept apart in the conduit by one or more rods 5 preferably of metal, which are held rigidly to the support by some means such as the rings 6 ; the conductors w are threaded through the holes p, and, as the supports cannot rotate or otherwise move, are thus kept apart and insulated. The conduit is made preferably, as shown in Fig. 1, with more than one duct, the lowest being left empty so as to act as a drain for the rest. The surfaces of the supports are preferably channelled as shown, so as to allow moisture to'get away, and for the same reason a clear channel is left at the lower part of each duct. Fig. 8 shows a different shape of duct and support.
