11,394. Mackay, T., and Pooley & Son, H. May 31. Indicating and registering mechanism; printing- devices.-The apparatus is described with reference to a hydrostatic weighing-machine. The longer arm of the lever a, Fig. 1, has a partly immersed weight b attached to it, and the shorter arm is attached to the platform. A quadrant e on the lever is connected by a chain to a pulley f on the axle of a type-wheel d, and a strip h of paper, fed forwards, receives an impression by means of the gripper o, o1 and a carbon paper. In another form of the apparatus, the arm and the axis of the wheel d are both vertical. In combination with this form, a modification is shown with a single lever o, Fig. 5, instead of a gripper, and, to prevent strain on the bearings of the wheel during the printing operation, a spring s is forced back when the lever o presses on the paper, whereupon the wheel d drops slightly on to the stop r.
