19,692. Paul, J. R. Sept. 29. No Patent granted (Sealingfee not paid). Buoys; sunken ships, raising.-Relates to that type of apparatus in which buoys are provided with cords and housed in recesses in the deck of a vessel so that, should the vessel be sunk, the buoys rise to the surface and indicate its position. Buoys f are housed within cylinders c, normally covered by a sliding plate d. Lines attached to the buoys pass through eyes b, so that, when it is desired to raise the vessel, the lines may be used to draw a stout hawser through the eyes. The invention is stated to be specially applicable to submarine vessels. When the vessel sinks, the cover d may be moved by the handle g releasing the buoys, or the handle may be fitted with a spring h so that the buoys are uncovered and are free to rise in the event of accident to the vessel.
