26,459. Richter, A. Dec. 28, 1904, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Dusting - appliances. - Relates to apparatus in which air is forced into and exhausted from the interiors of carpets, stuffed pieces of furniture, &c., in order to clean them thoroughly. In the apparatus shown, air is forced through the pipe e, the india-rubber pipe d, and the distributor a, and emerges through needle-shaped outlet pipes b. These pipes are forced down into the material to be cleaned by a band-wheel turning a screw and thus moving the distributor a, which moves between vertical ribs h and is thus prevented from rotation. The dirt-laden air spreads out and is drawn into the annular chamber i surrounding the distributor and connected with an exhaust pump by a pipe j j passing through a filter. The pipes e, j are provided with regulating-cocks. The air may in some cases be passed through in jerks by the action of the compressed-air pump or of the cock on the pipe e.
